#15 Get Floor Tickets to a Concert — Morgan Wallen in Edmonton

There are moments on my 40 Under 40 list that feel fun and light…and then there are moments that feel like an instant core memory.

#15 — Get floor tickets to a concert was one of those.

I’ve been to plenty of big shows, but I had never experienced a stadium concert from the floor — right in the energy, right in the crowd, right up close to the stage. And now that I have… I’m honestly not sure I can ever go back.

Seeing Morgan Again — No Matter What It Took

My sister and I knew we needed to see Morgan Wallen again.

We saw his last tour in, and it was unforgettable — but this time, he wasn’t coming anywhere near home. Toronto tickets were absolutely insane, and once we priced everything out (nosebleeds plus accommodations), it felt impossible.

Then we did something kind of wild:

We compared it to Edmonton.

And somehow… flying to Edmonton, staying for four days, and getting floor seats was actually less expensive than doing Toronto in the upper stands.

Crazy.

But also completely worth it.

So we booked the trip.

A Little Edmonton Adventure

Before concert night, we made a whole mini getaway out of it — two travel days, gave us one day to explore, wander, eat, and soak it all in.

We discovered some incredible food, did a lot of shopping, and visited what was once the largest mall in the world, The West Edmonton Mall, complete with the strangest, most entertaining surprises:

  • an indoor ice skating rink

  • pools and waterpark slides

  • roller coasters

  • even full-on ships inside the mall

One of our favourite meals in Edmonton was at DOSC, and we knew right away that being in Alberta, we had to lean into the beef. We ended up splitting the most incredible spread — the beef wellington, rich and perfectly cooked, alongside crispy truffle fries, a beautifully done beef tartare, and the most unexpectedly addictive brussels sprouts. Every bite felt like a treat, and it was the kind of meal that instantly becomes part of the memory of the trip.

One of the highlights was visiting the Muttart Conservatory, one of Edmonton’s most iconic landmarks. Stepping inside the glass pyramids felt like entering another world — lush tropical air, vibrant greenery, and beautifully curated plant environments that were both calming and inspiring. It was such a peaceful escape in the middle of the city, and a perfect stop during our little Edmonton adventure.

(Highly recommend if you’re ever visiting.)

Concert Night — 66,000 People and Not a Seat Empty

Then it was time.

Perfect weather. Stadium buzzing. Not an empty spot anywhere.

Commonwealth Stadium was completely packed — around 66,000 fans, the kind of crowd that feels electric the moment you walk in.

And the lineup? Unreal.

We didn’t just get Morgan…

We got Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert!

Three major artists in one night.

Floor Seats Changed Everything

Being on the floor was a completely different experience.

We were so close it didn’t feel real — like the kind of closeness where you keep turning to each other like, Is this actually happening?

And beyond the view, the floor experience came with perks that were worth the ticket price alone:

  • our own access to drinks

  • separate bathrooms

  • easier merch lines

  • and an overall feeling of being part of something exclusive and unforgettable

One of the Highlights of My Year

This was more than a show.

It was a sister trip. A new city. A little adventure. A reminder that sometimes the best memories come from saying yes to something slightly ridiculous… and totally unforgettable.

And now I fear I’ve ruined future concerts forever if I’m not on the floor again.
